Abstract des Autors

In this study we analyzed the representations formed by adult novices to dance who had learned a sequence of movements by watching a video model. Two sequences, one composed of concrete and familiar movements and the otehr of more abstract movements, were shown to 32 subjects. In the first experiment, we studied the subjects' representations during a recognition test of differences from the mode sequence. This experiment demonstrated that the subjects had correctly represented the form and temporal dimensions of movement, whatever the nature of the movements learned. The second experiment indicated the facilitating effect of concreteness on the quality of motor performance in terms of form characteristics and the overall quality of the movement. The results are discussed within a framework of the relations between perception, representation, and action. Verf.-Referat
