Abstract des Autors

In 1982 Italian law established sport fitness tests for all the athletes practising competitive sport. Execution of sport fitness tests in Piemonte is one of the functions of the Local Health Department, as well as of the private sports physicians. These physicians must send lists of sportsmen's medical evaluations to the Local Health Department. A new regional law establishes a form to declare sport fitness test results. The Medical Examiner's Office of the Local Health Department has to give out these numbered forms to sports physicians and to check their activity. In order to manage this new function in the Medical Examiner Office, a computerized IBM compatible program has been developed. The program comprises lists of sport fitness tests, athletes, sports physicians, sports clubs, Italian towns and Local Health Departments of Piemonte. The procedure requires that the operator first inputs some information about each sport fitness test. Data is permanently memorized on the hard disk of the computer. The program automatically carries out operations including the period in which a new medical examination is required, as well as the up-to-dating of the various lists. Comparing the lists of sport fitness tests that private physicians have made with the lists of sportsmen it is possible to find the athletes that have not been examined yet. Occasionally, the Medical Examiner of Local Health Department may have to control private surgeries of sports physicians that have been recorded in the computer. A flow chart shows the various activities that authors have planned to assist the control of sport fitness tests. For an easier overall control has been planned that a single office must have the function to receive fitness tests forms for all the three Local Health Departments that have been joined to create a bigger new department (USL 6). Although the program has a standard on a single computer, authors are planning to improve their system to satisfy new requirements with a mini network of two personal computers. To assure this system, the programmer has provided a password known by the office operators. It is very easy to make statistics as well as to print lists of sportsmen, sports and sports clubs. It is possible to exchange data to other Local Health Departments with floppy disks, to permit a real control of athletes number at regional level. It is especially important to link data about athletes that have not obtained the medical permission to practise competitive sport. The control function of Local Health Department guarantees all the athletes about the respect of law requirements. Verf.-Referat
