Abstract des Autors

The objective of this study was to investigate the use of Closed Skillattentional cueing scripts as a technique for enhancing the performance of a closed motor skill. An attentional cueing (AC) script consists of images, cue words and focus points organized into a set script which is employed by the athlete during performance. This study employed volunteer, male, league bowlers (N=31) as subjects in a pretest-posttest, randomized groups design. The pretest and posttest consisted of the average of first ball scores from six games, bowled in two sessions one week apart (three games bowled each session). After the pretest, the treatment group was given a generic AC script to be used while delivering their first ball in each bowling frame. An independent t-test using gain scores at the dependent variable showed that the AC script group's gain scores were significantly higher (p=.05) than those of the control group. Verf.-Referat
