Abstract des Autors
Doping in sports is an issue that attracts disproportionate attention. Often however, the effects of doping are based on fantasy rather than on reality, which unfortunately does not exclude considerable damage for the user. This article offers an overview of former and currently used medication and methods and their specific effects on the human body. Aspects of policy and the position of both athlete and physician are illustrated. Retrospection on the last eleven years learns that doping as a fenomenon in sports does not likely seem to be abandoned but hopefully be brought under control. Verf.-Referat
