Abstract des Autors

The results of the Dutch Health Interview Survey (HIS) 1990/1991 show that 34% of the Dutch adults are inactive, almost 43% are semi-active and 23% show a sufficient (norm-active) level of physical activity in their leisure time. Among men the figures are slightly better than among women: inactive 32% and 36% respectively and semi-active 45% and 42% respectively. The proportions norm-active men and women don't differ. Cycling and walking are practised mostly; by women somewhat more than by men. A quarter of the semi- and normactive men and women play matches. The percentage among men is twice as high as among women (33% and 16% respectively) and declines in older age groups. On average adults do 0.7 hours strenuous physical exercise per day (men 0.9 hours and women 0.4 hours). Only younger men with a higher level of strenuous physical exercise show a less active life style pattern. Verf.-Referat
