Abstract des Autors

A case of viral myocarditis of a young soccer player following a banal viral infection is reported on. Authors call the attention to the difficulties in the establishment of the diagnosis of the disease. In this case laboratory findings showed insignificant differences (accelarated erythrocyte sedimentation rate, microscopic hematuria) the dominating symptoms were complaints in the cardiac region, subfebrility and a remarkable impairment in physical working capacity. Electrocardiography and echocardiography supported the diagnosis. According authors' suggestion after viral myocarditis the athlete should go back to competitive sport gradually, only if the left ventricular function is restored, exercise ECG stress-test indicates a good physical working capacity and Holter monitoring does not reveal any arrhythmia.
