Abstract des Autors

Oxygen consumption (VO2) and the capillary blood lactate concentration ([AL]cap) were measured during treadmill running at different speeds from 180 to 300 m/min (9 subjects) and from 180 to 330 m/min (9 subjects). The energy expenditure, given in ml O2/kg/min, was calculated taking into account the measured VO2 and the changes of [AL]cap. The linear regressions between energy expenditure and speed had angular coefficients (beta) in the range of 0.156 and 0.281 ml O2/kg/m. All beta were highly significant (highest p=0.0055, average p=0.0009+/-0.0014). The two lowest beta were significantly different from the highest ones. For a given improvement of the aerobic characteristics, subjects with low beta show higher performance increases than other subjects. Verf.-Referat
