The authors conducted a study in order to obtain statistically singificant data on the diagnostic reliability of CT scan in injuries of the meniscus. In about two years, 253 arthroscopies were caried out, of which 106 in athletes, practicing different sports. In 93 athletes were diagnosed, by CT scan, traumatic injuries of the internal or external meniscus. Subsequently, these results were compared with the data of the arthroscopy. The authors valued, both for the internal as well as for the external meniscus, the diagnostic sensibility, specificity and accuracy of CT scan. Having assessed these data, the authors confirm, in accordance with other authors, that the CT scan is a very reliable diagnostic instrument in the injuries of the meniscus. Therefore it can substitute for the arthroscopy, which is, however, essential for control and surgical treatment. Verf.-Referat
