Abstract des Autors

The aim of the study was to establish the relationship between achievements of Polish boxers and their temperamental characteristics. Two groups of boxers were studied: club boxers (n=237), serving as "control" group, and elite boxers (n=212). Temperamental traits were determined with the use of Strelau's KT-134 questionnaire and temperamental type (category) according to Stawowska. It has been demonstrated that the proportions of phlegmatics to other temperamental types was significantly higher among participants of Olympic Games and World and European Championships compared to the composition of boxing elite. Phlegmatics also won significantly more medals at those competitions in proportion to the number of starts compared to other temperamental types. On the other hand, melancholics won significantly less medals in proportion to the number of participants compared to other types. Verf.-Referat
