Abstract des Autors

Ultra-endurance athletes typically train for 1 to 6 hours per day, and multiple training sessions during a single day are not uncommon, especially for triathletes. Additionally, ultra-endurance cyclists must participate in 24-hour races to prepare and qualify for events such as the RAAM. Thus, an extraordinary nutrient intake may be required to support and maintain the rigours of daily training, and to optimise performance during ultra-endurance competitions. In this article the dietary needs during training for ultra-endurance events are described, followed by a description of dietary considerations for competition. Verf.-Referat
