Abstract des Autors
If the primary responsibility of the sports medicine team (i.e. physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists, exercise physiologists, dieticians and sports psychologists) is to maintain the health and safety of the athlete, thus optimising performance, does the pre-participation evaluation (PPE) play an important role in fulfilling this responsibility? If it does, are the guidelines outlined valid and practical? This article will briefly review these PPE guidelines and discuss new developments in the establishment of uniform guidelines for the PPE of young athletes. Verf.-Referat
