Abstract des Autors

The pyrogenic and lymphocyte-activating factor (LAF) activities in blood plasma of dogs during a static physical exercise, at which rectal temperature (Tr) decreased or the hyperthermia developed delta T = 0.7 + 0.05ø C) were studied. Blood plasma obtained from exercisings, including the period preceding hyperthermia, exhibited pyrogenic activity when intravenously applied to C57B1/6 mice. The pyrogenic activity of chromatographed plasma samples has been found in fractions corresponding to 14 - 18 kDa. After the cessation of exercise, no pyrogenic activity in plasma was detected. Fractions of plasma obtained during the exercise and exhibiting pyrogenic activity showed LAF activity as well. That activity persisted in low-molecular weight fractions for several minutes after the exercise. The results indicate a rapid increase in the pyrogenic and LAF activities in blood plasma induced by muscle activity. Endogenous pyrogen that appears in circulation during the exercise is probably involved in the development and maintenance of exercise-induced hyperthermia. Verf.-Referat
