Abstract des Autors

In the Netherlands the National Institute for Sports Health Care (NISGZ) started a nationwide registration system of sports injuries, as registered by the Sports Medical Advice Centres (SMA's). Of the 45 regular SMA's - 23 participated in this registration system on a voluntary basis. On the basis of 2256 sports injury registration forms registered by the SMA's 349 insertion-tendinopathy patients were compared to 1907 patients who came to the SMA with other complaints. An analysis was done on the relationship between personal characteristics, injury related characteristics and injury treatment. The four localisations of insertion-tendinopathy which were registered most frequently are the knee (49%), the groin (15.5%), the shoulder (7.2%) and the elbow (6.9%). Insertion-tendinopathy at the front of the knee occured most often to men between 15 and 30 years of age who participated in sports at a high level; they often played more than seven hours weekly. The most frequently registered sports were soccer, athletics, jogging and volleyball. Insertion-tendinopathy at the elbow was registered most by tennis players over 30 years of age. Insertion-tendinopathy at the groin was registered most frequently in soccer players between 15 and 30 years of age. Before a SMA-consultation the average injury duration of insertion-tendinopathy was 7.2 months. The insertion-tendinopathy had often developed over a large time period. The advises which were given most often by the SMA were: exercises at home, adjusted sport practice and ice/cooling. Verf.-Referat
