Abstract

The author describes the history of female physical activity during World War II. In the article she explains the problems that faced female physical educators during the war time. She focuses on the Women's Army Corps (WAC) physical training program and the contributions this made to the American war effort. She describes the attitudes and problems facing women in the Armed Forces, and the stigmas attached to physically active females.
