Abstract des Autors

In five male rock climbers, with an on-sight climbing level of at least 6c (French grading), maximum static strength of the following muscle groups was measured: hand grip, arm flexors, extension both arms, extension both legs, trunk flexion and back extension. The subjects also did a maximal arm-cranking exercise test. Hand grip endurance, both left and right, was measured at 50% of the maximum static strength. The results were compared with a matched control group. The tests showed no significant differences between the two groups in maximum static strength or in maximum power output and oxygen intake. However, the rock climbers had a significantly lower body fat percentage and maintained their hand grip significantly longer than the control group. Verf.-Referat
