Abstract des Autors

Knowledge of injuries in field hockey played on artificial grass is score. Therefore, experienced adult male and female hockey players in the Netherlands, where competitive hockey is mostly played on artificial grass, were asked to answer a retrospective questionnaire. Ankle injuries occur most frequently, followed by knee, upper leg and finger injuries. Knee and ankle injuries are the most severe. Burns and abrasions are common. Injuries n hockey on artificial grass occur frequently, but not significantly so compared to other popular team sports or to earlier research into hockey injuries both on natural and artificial grass. The prevention of ankle and knee injuries should receive more emphasis, as should a balanced training programme during recovery in order to prevent re-injury. Verf.-Referat
