Abstract des Autors

One hundred and four Finnsih coaches participated in this study of the psychometric properties of the coach's version of the Leadership Scale for Sports (LSS). The internal consistency estimates were above satisfactory level in the dimension of training and instruction, democratic behavior, social support behavior, and rewarding behavior. The dimension of autocratic behavior was low in internal consistency, and it also correlated significantly with social desirability. Both convergent and discriminant validity of the LSS were supported by Campbell and Fiske's multitraitmultimethod analysis in which coachers' ratings of themselves on the five definitions were the alternative method. Based on these results, it was concluded that the choach's version of the Leadership Scale for Sport can be seen as a valid instrument in leadership research provided the results concerning autocratic behavior be viewed with caution.
