Abstract des Autors

To verify the somatostatin 14 antalgic and anti-inflammatory activity in insertional pathology was the aim of our study. Fourteen patients affected by humeral epicondylitis of the dominant limb have been enrolled; the sample was splitted in two groups. The first group was treated for 28 days with one peri-articular infiltration of 750 micro-g of somatostatin 14 every 7 days; the second, the control group, was treated with ordinary therapy used for the management of the articular inflammation pain for 20 sittings (laser IR, ultrasound, iontophoresis). We have analysed the parameters of the evaluation of spontaneous pain with a horizontal analogic-visual scale of Scott-Huskisson, the pain during the movement with the Maigne method whereas the functional limitations have been evaluated by Lido Workest isokinetics system. After the first week the reduction of spontaneous pain and pain during active movement is already resulted significant as to the control. In the comparison between the peak force average and the total work developed by epicondylic muscles during the inquired prehensive activities important differentiation treated/control have resulted. Local and general tolerability is good. The somatostatin 14 pharmacological treatment has pointed out lasting analgesic effect to compare to an inhibition of substance P liberation and also to an antagonistic action with several cytokinins as the IL-1 and IL-8 involved in the insertional fibro-angiogenesis.
