Abstract des Autors

The purpose of this study was to examine the reactions of catecholamines and renin under the influence of the new beta-adrenergic partial agonist alifedrine, which had no significant influence on the plasma catecholamines and renin concentrations of 5 healthy young men at rest and at exercise, heart rate and blood pressure not being affected significantly. Both catecholamines and renin increased in response to work loads with epinephrine falling more abruptly after ergometric exercise than norepinephrine without any overshoot reactions of the catecholamines in the cool down period, so that despite of previous reports the sportsmen are not endangered by increased catecholamine levels, particularly subjects with preexisting coronary heart disease after ergometry.
