Abstract des Autors
485 children (10.4 +/- 0.4 y.; 259 girls, 226 boys) underwent an exhaustive exercise tolerance test in sitting position, using the bicycle-ergometer (1 Watt/kg body weight method). According to the max. performance the children were joined to the following groups: trained (4 Watt/kg), untrained (3 Watt/kg) and weak (up to 2 Watt/kg). 66.4% of girls (g) and 56.2% of boys (b) were untrained, 34.1% of boys (b) und 12.0% of girls (g) trained. 21.6% of g and 9.7% of b had to be considered being weak. Trained children were found to have more physical activities (b: 4.7 +/- 2.2 h/week, g: 5.7 +/- 3.8 h/week) than other children (often only 1.5 h/week of physical education in school). The trained children had the higher max. O2 consumption/kg ((b: 49.3 +/- 5.4 / g: 47.0 +/- 4.3 ml/kg/min STPD). Already, at the age of 10 years, an age of movement, a remarkable number of children must be considered to have a weak physical efficiency. The usual 1.5 h/week of physical education in school are evidently insufficient, especially with regard to prevention of cardiovascular diseases. Verf.-Referat
