Abstract des Autors

In 171 males (40-49 years) with a sitting occupation ergometric performance, heart volume and the patterns of cardiac risk factors were investigated. Hypercholesterolemia, family history of ischemic heart disease and cigarette smoking were found to be the most common risk factors in this population. 40% of the volunteers were burdened by the combination of two, 15% by three risk factors. Dependent on the time of sports activity per week there is an increase of performance and heart volume. Although the concentration of cholesterol is unchanged, HDL-cholesterol in tendency (10%) is increased in the most active persons, their body weight is less (6%) and the smoking habits are markedly reduced.
