Abstract des Autors
At the 1st and 11th day of two 3 weeks lasting training periods itramuscular injections of 250 mg testosterone enantate (T) and placebo (P), respectively, were applicated in a randomized, double blind and cross over study design to 11 highly endurance trained volunteers. Comparing P and T, performance and parameters of metabolic and muscular strain (urea, ammonia, creatinine, CK, GOT) showed no differences. The pattern of total testosterone, cortisol, catecholamines, beta-endorphines, prolactin, insuline and HGH was similar under P and T, whereas under T free testosterone was found to be higher, LH and FSH lower until the 3rd (LH: 7th) day after an exhaustive endurance exercise performed with 95% of the intensity of individual anaerobic threshold at the 21th day. Liver function was not impaired under T while HDL-cholesterol tendencially decreased. Verf.-Referat
