Abstract des Autors

The study aimed at assessing the endurance of lower limb muscles from the changes in the take-off power in time. It was assumed that the slope of the regression of power output vs. time was a measure of endurance which decreased with the mass of the carriage. Eight physical education students, practising diverse sports, participated in the experiments consisting of multiple take-offs on an inclined plane. After having determined individually maximal power output values from a series of 4 take-offs at each carriage mass incremented by 5 kg from 30 to 50 kg, every subject performed a series of 70 take-offs with maximum force at each of those loads. Linear fits were used to describe the power (y) decreases with time (x). Mean regression equations for the carriage mass equal to 30 or 50 kg were y = 1592 - 5.29 x and y = 1410 - 3.77 x, respectively. Three phases, associated with different energy sources, could be discerned: 0 - 20 s, characterized by only a negligible power decrease, 20 - 120 s, when a marked, steady decrease of power took place, and above 120 s, when the power output was again nearly constant.
