Abstract des Autors

Highly experienced weight lifters (n=10) and wrestlers (n=25), holders of master of 1st sport class, were studied with regard to their body asymmetry. The assumption was that training, aimed at symmetrization of motions, would help the athletes become ambidextrous. For determining the limb domination Zazzo tests were employed, and for facial lateralization - 8 procedures of the Kwinta test. Weight lifters exhibited functional symmetry of limbs and facial muscles, while wrestlers were mostly right-handed, right-footed, and exhibited left-sided facial asymmetry. In all studied athletes the functional one-sidedness (body laterality), right-sidedness dominating, prevailed over crossing. Facial and limb lateralization was more strongly related to the manual than to foot domination. Verf.-Referat
