Abstract des Autors

The study aimed at the evaluation of oxygen uptake in boys and girls during and after supramaximal 2 min running exercises. The results obtained in the test runs were compared with those recorded in the field run tests applied to assess children's physical fitness. The results of the study indicated that oxygen uptake (in ml/kg/min) was significantly higher in boys than in girls in consequence of a higher running speed of the former. However, the time course of oxygen uptake during the exercise and 5 min recovery was partially identical in boys and girls, when the oxygen uptake was expressed as percent of VO2max. The same was true for the oxygen uptake during the supramaximal 2 min running. It was concluded that oxygen uptake in boys did not differ significantly from that in girls during supramaximal exercise of similar relative intensity and duration. Verf.-Referat
