Abstract des Autors

Junior rowers (33 men and 13 women) were examined twice - at the beginning and at the end of the annual training cycle. Two test exercises on Concept II rowing ergometer were applied: a maximal one, simulating the 2000 m run, and a graded submaximal exercise for determining the anaerobic threshold. In contrast to older juniors, the work capacity in younger juniors increased, as judged by the mean power output in the maximal exercise. Unexpectedly, the indices of anaerobic threshold did not improve in effect of one year of training which suggested that the applied training media were ineffective in improving their aerobic capacity. The need to train the latter was emphasized as it represented one of the principal factors conditioning the fitness in rowing. Verf.-Referat
