The authors describe a method for the evaluation of both inborn and acquired characteristics of the soccer player. This method is based on three different tests, respectively named: "Skill Power Test", "Jump I" and "Jump N". With this fully-automated computerized method, it is possible to obtain, from the time scores of the test, a series of physiological parameters in real time. Each of these, tabulated for each athlete, can be quickly visualized and inspected by the experimenter and becomes of easy access to scientists on this field. The computer print-out given in real time, provides information regarding the state of the neuro-muscular, psycho-sensorial and articular systems which distinguishes a good level player from a poor one. The print-out provides parameters of either simple or complex motor reaction time, acuity and field of vision, alertness and optimal position in the field. It also gives informations regarding muscle recruitment during an alactic anaerobic performance such as that of the slalom, power and jumping ability during a vertical take-off jump and muscular coordination and articular flexibility of a power kick. Finally, it provides both the velocity and the power impressed on the ball by the foot. Therefore this test basically evaluates most of the functional characteristics normally required or potentially improvable, in an athlete of this discipline. Verf.-Referat
