Abstract des Autors

Inconsistent findings in the socio-behavioral domain are attributed mainly to two sources: (a) human nature - individuals respond differently to endless varieties of stimuli on one hand, and exhibit inconsistent behaviours in identical situations on the other hand and (b) insufficient methodological control over human behaviors. This presentation focuses on the second limitation by pointing out common methodological deficiencies in the sport psychology domain. It is argued that inconsistent findings from a methodological perspective are due to: (a) inadequate methods applied to measurement of human behaviours, and (b) insufficient use of processes designs while focusing mainly on pre-post designs. Each of these limitaitons is discussed and demonstrated. Suggestions are given to overcome methodological deficiencies and enhance the progress of sport psychology research. Verf.-Referat
