Abstract des Autors

Sixteen male junior cyclists and 10 untrained individuals were subjected to a graded bicycle ergometer exercise till exhaustion. Samples of expired air were collected before and after exercise for measuring selected biochemical variables. Exercise-induced increase in the surface tension of the expired fluid was observed in the control group along with decreased content of phospholipids and cholesterol, and increased that of protein, suggesting inactivation of the surface system in that group. The surface tension in cyclists was unchanged, due probably to an activated enzymatic oxidation in the expired fluid. The observed biochemical responses may reflect adaptive changes of the pulmonary system to physical exercise. Verf.-Referat
