Abstract des Autors
The author gives an insight into the history of boxing, into the development of different safety equipments and summarizes the differences between the judging rules of amateur and professional boxing. The most important difference is that in amateur boxing the same set of AIBA rules is used world-wide, while the professional boxing has different set of rules. The amateur boxing today seems to be not more dangerous in comparison to other sports because of the very careful medical control, the sophisticated neurodiagnostic tests, the health protective equipments and the new regulations. The author surveys the most frequent injuries in boxing. Based on the literature, a comparison is made concerning the rate of pathologic findings of neurological diagnostic examinations (neurological, neuropsychyitrical, EEG, MRI, CT) in amateur and professional boxers. The author gives a list about the suggested items for the ringside physician and about the first aid of the unconscious boxer. Verf.-Referat
