Abstract

The purpose of this study is the contribution to the development of volitional effort which is very important for a better performance during sports activity. There was the question if certain social situations can influence the intensity of volitional effort. First of all we had chosen the couples from the sports group with positive or negative relationships having used one of sociometric examinations. During the proper laboratory experiment we examined the intensity of voliltional effort both at the situation of individuals and the situation of couples motivated by intercompetition. Subjects should keep up the isometric contraciton of the upper limb within the range of a half of the maximum strength up to complete exhaustion. In the corse of the experiment the subject indicates the beginning of subjectively unpleasant feelings. Objectively measured parameters were given by bioelectrical potentials taken from certain muscles. For correlaiton of measured parameters we used the Wilcoxon couple test. As our results show it seems that certain social situations or the statement of interpersonal relations within a group can have the influence to volitional effort and thus to the performance of athletes.
