Abstract
There are many specific causes of patello-femoral pain. The anatomy of the fat pad makes it, especially its lingula, easily vulnerable to impingement between patella and femur. In 21 knees with patello-femoral pain no other pathology was found than a prominent, fibrillated tip of fat pad. This was excised arthroscopically giving good results in 17 (81). This suggests that fat pad impingement, even without significant traums, is one of the possible causes of patello-femoral pain. Verf.-Referat
