Abstract des Autors

Achilles tendinitis is most commonly associated with the chronic repetitive stresses of running and jumping sports. Physical findings include fusiform swelling of the tendon and loss of passive dorsiflexion of the foot. Imaging techniques may reveal calcification and areas of inflammation. Conservative treatment is usually effective and consists of rest, moderate stretching, light progressive-resistance exercises, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Corticosteroid injections are occasionally helpful. Patients who do not do well with conservative treatment may be candidates for surgery. Verf.-Referat
