Abstract
Two dancers developed tarsal tunnel syndrome. Risk factors identified included prior Achilles tendon injury, hindfoot overpronation in the turned-out position, and deficiency of strength, flexibility, and balance manifested by repetitive overpronation and oversupination. One dancer was treated with tarsal tunnel decompression, which was complicated by postoperative reflex sympathetic dystrophy, and she had some residual symptoms. The other was treated with physiotherapy, and her symptoms resolved completely. Both dancers returned to dance training. Tarsal tunnel syndrome has not been previously reported in dancers, and should be included in the differential diagnosis of foot and ankle dance injury. Verf.-Referat
