Abstract

Isolated dorsal dislocation of the proximal interphalangeal (PIP) or distal interphalangeal (DIP) joint in a finger is commonly caused by a hyperextension force, usually in athletes involved in throwing and catching sports, while double dorsal dislocation in the same finger is a rarer type of injury. The first description of this injury was in 1874 by Bartels. Since then, 14 cases have been reported in the literature. The purpose of this paper is to report three additional cases and to review the 15 cases previously described in the literature. Verf.-Referat
