Abstract
This is a case of a nonunion of a medial malleolus stress fracture in the left ankle of a collegiate football player. The report presents a previously unreported occurrence of an uncommon yet disabling injury. The case reinforces the importance of early diagnosis and treatment of these fractures. The clinician must be able to recognize the clinical scenario of medial malleolus stress fractures to prevent a potential nonunion of the fracture and long-term disability of the athlete.
