Abstract
This article deals with back injuries basketball players. The authors discuss the anatomy and embryology of the back, including the supporting structures of muscles, fascia, and ligaments. Biomechanics of the lumbar spine and mechanisms of injury are discussed. The more common injuries are related to muscular sprains, spinal stenosis, disk disease, spondylolisthesis, and congential deformities that manifest later in life secondary to trauma.
