Abstract des Autors
Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries in the child or adolescent athlete are common in contact and noncontact sports and may lead to further knee damage. The presenting signs mimic those of several other acute knee problems; therefore, correctly diagnosing an acute ACL disruption is vital. Whether conservative or surgical treatment is best depends on many factors including age, activity level, and - unique to growing patients - interference with the growth plate, avulsion of the tibial spine, and the importance of retaining the meniscus. Successful treatment and rehabilitation can allow an active athletic life with minimal chance of future traumatic arthritis. Verf.-Referat
