Abstract
Anecdotal reports have implicated injury to the conjoint tendon as a possible cause for chronic groin pain in athletes. Fifteen athletes with chronic groin pain were clinically assessed to have possible injury to the conjoint tendon. Surgical exploration of the groin and biopsy of the conjoint tendon were undertaken in all athletes. No histopathological abnormality was found. The authors conclude that injury to the conjoint tendon is not the cause of chronic groin pain in these athletes. Verf.-Referat
