Abstract
The authors discuss the role of nasal respiratory functions in conditions of elevated metabolic demand that occur during sporting activity. The opportunity that otolaryngologists must have a deep experience in choosing between a wide spectrum of surgical interventions for reducing nasal fractures and deformities, is also underlined. The application of unselected surgical techniques may frequently cause unexpected scar results with considerable aesthetic and functional impairment. Verf.-Referat
