Abstract
An epidemiological study carried out on accidents occurring during basketball matches revealed a high incidence of knee lesions in womens basketball. This phenomenon has steadily increased over the past 10 years and has now reached a worrying level. The explanation should be sought in the characteristic morphology of the female sex, in the use of rules originally intended for mens basketball, and in the prevention of traumatic lesions to other areas. In order to reduce this type of accident it is necessary to carry out effective preventive measures against knee lesions. Verf.-Referat
