Abstract

The process of gaining and maintaining extreme pedalling regimes was investigated on basis of determination by both direct and indirect methods of increasing mechanical effectiveness and movement economization. Special pedalling training technique was used. It was equipped with units for acquisition and visual self-control using feedback channels of biodynamics, kinematics, EMG and heart rate. Methods of biomechanical cinemathography and gas analysis were also utilized during the investigation. The present results showed that maximum increase in mechanical effectiveness parameters of pedalling was reached when electrical stimulation was applied to those muscles of lower extremities, which provide maximum force contribution to pedal rotation, especially at the moment of their natural maximum strengthening. It was discovered that simultaneously with the increase of mechanical effectiveness of pedalling (4-5) under electrical stimulation, a reduction (to 6-7) of secondary muscle electrical activity takes place. This is the main cause of the reduction (to 25) of metabolic expenditure. Verf.-Referat
