Abstract
Seven Physical Education students were studied during exercise on a bicycle ergometer at increasing work loads i.e. 50, 65, and 80 VO2max. Venous blood samples were taken at rest and after each exercise for determination of phagocytic activity, kinetic activity and chemiluminescence of granulocytes. Statistically significant differences were found in the phagocytic and kinetic activity of these cells between the various exercises, and this activity increased with increasing exercise intensity. Chemiluminescence test demonstrated that light exercise (50 of VO2max) stimulated the metabolic activity of the granulocytes with development of free oxygen radicals, while intensive exercise (80 of VO2max) inhibited this activity.
