Abstract

The aim of study was to analyze the special work capacity of three prinicpal body segments taking part in the rowing motions - arms, legs, and trunk. For each segment the contribution to the total work output, as well as the coefficient of work performance were determined. For the trunk, that coefficient was found to be below performance were determined. For the trunk, that coefficient was found to be below the overall average, and smaller in the inexperienced rowers than in the elite ones (43.5 and 57.9, respectively), for legs - above the average, and higher in the inexperienced (95.0 and 84.7), and for arms it was about the average and similar in both groups. Elite rowers were characterized by a higher total performance coefficient, as compared with the beginners (70.8 and 6.3, respectively), and by smaller differences in the performance coefficients of the trunk and legs.
