Abstract

The constant growth of baseball and softball has determined an increase of trauma cases in these sports that have been closely observed by sport and orthopedic-traumatology specialists. Our intention through this work has been to examine the different kinds of trauma caused by the practice of these sports checking athletic gestures (due to various roles of the game), and other traumas observed in the sport-traumatology Lab of this Hospital. Therefore well describe: history of baseball and softball; the game in itself and the roles of the players; factors that can determine traumas; carefull analysis of basics; various pathologies due to the different athletic movements, making a distinction between the specific ones and those in common with others sports.
