Abstract
The authors have tested the 2-3 DPG concentration in red-cells in young athletes with thalassemia trait, before and after muscular stress test. In normal subjects there are no significant rises in 2-3 DPG concentration after the trial. In thalassemic trait subjects, on the contrary, there is a significant rise in 2-3 DPG concentration after the trial. It is suggested that 2-3 DPG can have an important role in adaptation mechanism in subjects with thalassemic trait after intensive aerobic stress. Verf.-Referat
