Abstract

A group of horses prepared for the 1988 Olympic Games was subject to rest and post-exercise blood tests. In the collected blood samples hematological indices hemoglobin level, hematocrit and blood sedimentation rate) and biochemical parameters levels of total protein, glucose, phosphorus and lactic acid) were analysed. The presented paper offers the results of blood tests for five starters in the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul. All the horses were well prepared for the Olympic Games. Results of three of them could be compared with those recorded in 1987 before their start in the Championship of Europe. Alkierz and Niewiaza showed better condition than in 1987 and Igrek was a little weaker. Verf.-Referat
