Abstract

Relationships between selected morphological parameters and motor abilities are analyzed on the basis of curvelinear regression method. The material was the result of investigations carried out on 18-year-old boys (n=101) and 17-year-old girls (n=111). Body mass, thickness of four skinfolds, and time of 8-m run, static muscle strength, jump-and-reach, time of running an eight-shaped course, body angle depth, physical capacity index, and time of simple reaction to optical stimulus were considered. The results were analyzed as regards the possibilities of forecasting one variable (motor abilities), with the other (morphological parameter) being known. Analysis permits a conclusion that further increase of body mass and obesity in population, with the existing conditions may create the phenomena - with a given probability - which favour decrease of functional abilities (and the reverse), above all in running speed, jump-and-reach, motor coordination (agility) and physical capacity index. Only static strength should respond positively to the increase in the above-mentioned morphological parameters. Verf.-Referat
