Abstract
The correlation between lactic acid concentration and the base deficit in blood at anaerobic threshold (AT) are analysed. The authors discuss critically the concept of neglecting the pre-exercise values of these parameters in AT determination. On the basis of the results of acid-base balance, including BE at lactic acid level of 4 mmol/l, no statistically significant correlation was demonstrated between post-exercise lactic acid concentration and BE value. However, a significant correlation was found between the differences of these parameters before and after exercise. The authors stress the necessity of post-exercise/pre-exercise difference of LA or BE in the determination of anaerobic threshold. Verf.-Referat
