Abstract
The biomechanical premisses for subacromial impingement are inherent in some sports. In practice, however, only a small percentage of true painful shoulders was observed in 5000 athletes engaged in competitive sport. Examination of the movements and postures responsible for the appearance and exacerbation of the symptoms enabled a distinction to be drawn between forms caused by anterosuperior impingement, anteromedial impingement (as the result of compression and tension), and instability of imprecise origin. Treatment is primarily noninvasive. Only 10 of cases necessitate surgical management when poor results have been achieved with courses of physiokinesitherapy. Verf.-Referat
